Bloom Where you are Planted

“Truly charity has no limit; for the love of God has been poured into our hearts by His Spirit dwelling in each one of us, calling us to a life of devotion and inviting us to bloom in the garden where He has planted and directing us to radiate the beauty and spread the fragrance of His Providence.” Saint Francis de Sales

Today how can you give appreciation for the Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area, and George Genereux Urban Regional Park?

How can you have fun at these urban regional parks?  Are you drawn to forest, open space or wetlands?  Do you like walking, or watching birds, or finding the rabbits and deers?

What are the core strengths of the Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area, and George Genereux Urban Regional Park?   Are they the same or different?  Do you like to delve into history or geology?  Perhaps you like to sink your teeth into a great biography?  Or maybe you like to learn more about plants and animals, and what makes an eco-system work.

Perhaps you see something out at  Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area, and George Genereux Urban Regional Park that you wish was different.  Mahatma Gandhi  said, “be the change that you wish to see in the world.” and Henry Ford once said “if you think you can or you can’t, you’re right.”

“I realised one day not so long ago, that I believe in many things, but that I do not trust any of them. I have, for the longest time, not trusted anything that I believe in. And so it dawned upon me: that belief and trust are two entirely different things. One may believe wholeheartedly without trusting for a minute. I have been like a seed in the ground: believing that the Sun is shining somewhere up there; believing that rain falls and that it probably feels really good too; believing that there is Winter and Summer, Spring and Fall... but never trusting anything that I believe in enough to break through the soil and reach my branches up towards the sky! The French have a saying from the 15'th Century: "Fleuris là où tu es plantée", which means, "Bloom where you are planted". Blooming has everything to do with trust, I have discovered, and very little to do with belief. To become anything at all, the seed must trust. And so shall I.”    ―      C. JoyBell C.

Well there is something that needs to be changed at  Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area, and George Genereux Urban Regional Park.  There will be 8-9 new neighbourhoods with 700,000 new residents and a new employment sector moving in next door.  Right now sounds like a good time to create a safe greenspace for children to come out for some place based learning before the urban footprint increases and illegal motorized vehicle trespass expands exponentially.  Now is the time for vehicle barriers to be put into place.  Will you help?  We have a virtual bottle drive, and a Arbor Week Safe Forest Go Fund Me campaign going on right now!  We are so close to success with the installation of our barriers.  If it is hard to donate because of the novel Coronavirus COVID-19, we pick up recycling bottles in Saskatoon!  If you wish to support us in the month of June,  donate to the Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas Inc. through this page of the Great Canadian Giving Challenge in June 2020 and our charity will have a chance to win $20,000! Thank you ever so much for your consideration.
